Who We Are

The Hansen Foundation embraces RECOVERY, for those who suffer from substance use disorders, their families and friends.  More than Sober Living, our Serenity Houses and Serenity Estates help addicts access treatment, promote healthy and sustainable life choices and reunite families.

Our Hope Farm and Community Education Programs introduce a holistic approach to wellness and productive living.  Hansen Foundation raises funds for Resident Scholarships and to supplement needs for our life-saving endeavors.

Our Purpose

The Hansen Foundation’s purpose is to raise and distribute funds for philanthropic purposes. To help those recovering from addiction by assisting those in need to access treatment and provide sober living.

The Hansen Foundation owns and operates Serenity Houses, extended-care recovery residences in Atlantic County, New Jersey. The Serenity House staff treats all residents as individuals, each with unique circumstances, and provides them with the tools and skills they need to sustain successful lives in recovery.

Serenity Estates is a recovery residence that incorporates a holistic philosophy towards treating the mind, body, and spirit. We are just steps from the beach in Atlantic City, NJ close to the quaint North Beach section of Ventnor. Our home is very spacious and impeccably decorated. Serenity Estates prides itself on being the first premier recovery residence in New Jersey.

Serenity House & Serenity House Meadows in Absecon, New Jersey and Serenity Rose House in Northfield, New Jersey are transitional sober-living houses for women, and The Randy Scarborough House in Somers Point, New Jersey is for men.

Residents live in a supportive & restorative, drug & alcohol free environment while learning how to become responsible members of the community.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

My name is Jennifer and I am a recovering addict.  My addiction took me to places I never imagined.  I lived on the streets with a $300 per day heroin habit.  With dark circles under my eyes and track marks along my arms, I felt dead; my soul was gone.  At the time, life seemed hopeless.  After several attempts at rehabilitation, I finally entered a women’s transitional facility in California where I began to gather the tools I needed to live without drugs.  I stayed in California for 2+ years while working and participating in 12-step recovery before returning to NJ.

Upon my return, I saw the void in resources in NJ and began on my mission to give others the tools and opportunities that made my recovery possible.  In 2001, I formed the Hansen Foundation and since then we have opened over 180 beds for those seeking recovery with the Hansen Houses, Serenity Houses & Serenity Estates.

Drug free since March 3, 1996, I continue to keep my recovery my number one priority.  I practice yoga regularly and believe in eating healthy organic foods.  I have been excited to incorporate many holistic therapies into our newly-formed treatment program at Enlightened Solutions with the help of Hope Farm.

For any of you or your family members that are struggling, DON’T GIVE UP HOPE!  RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE!  I am living proof.  Please use our resources and reach out.  We are here to help.

Namaste,

Jennifer Hansen
