The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Training (CPRS) is an intensive eight (8) day, 46-hour training that qualifies individuals to apply for NJ State Certification. The training focuses on providing individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. The CPRS Training prepares participants to act as skilled Certified Peer Recovery Specialists in a wide variety of settings including treatment centers, recovery centers, faith-based institutions, and various community settings.
The Hansen Foundation is a licensee for training for peer recovery specialists in Atlantic and Cape May County for Prevention is Key-CARES – the Center for Addiction Recovery Education Success. We provide the training that satisfies the educational requirement for the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential as determined by the Addiction Professionals Certification Board of New Jersey, Inc (APCBNJ). The training, upon successful completion, provides trainees with the competency in the learning domains created by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) which include mentoring and education, advocacy and ethical responsibility.
